First, a quick reminder: The SaaS Pegasus sale ends tomorrow. You can get Pegasus unlimited for 50% off, but only until the end of the day.

In today’s email, I want to talk about why you might want to use SaaS Pegasus.

Here’s a pretty common question people ask me:

I can just start a project with an open source starter kit or AI now. Why should I buy Pegasus?

It’s a fair question. There are lots of cheaper or free ways to start a Django project so why use Pegasus?

Let me first tackle the easier half of this question—other starter kits.

In the time since I launched SaaS Pegasus—way back in 2019—there’s been an explosion of starter projects out there. Against these, I’ll just say simply that Pegasus is better. By a lot.

I don’t consider myself a salesy person, so saying that feels a bit weird to me—but in this case I’m ok with it. Before starting Pegasus, I was CTO at a company building one of the larger Django apps in existence. Since leaving, I’ve worked consistently on Pegasus for more than six years. There is no one with more experience who has worked harder to make the ideal Django starter project, and frankly, it’s not even close. Pegasus is not the cheapest option out there, but I’m confident it is the best.

SaaS Pegasus's contribution history shows the consistent effort that's been put into it since early 2019.
Ok, now let’s talk about AI.

First I will 100% acknowledge that AI is amazing technology. I pair with AIs pretty much every time I touch code now, and I can’t imagine the idea of working without it. Having a researcher, thought partner, and code generator that knows the syntax and patterns of every programming language is incredible. Responsible coding with AI makes me a much better, more productive developer.

But to those who want to vibe code an entire complex SaaS application, I would simply say—try it. Go build your app with AI. See how the codebase evolves over time and witness things get messier, harder, and more error prone day after day after day. Then come back to this email in six months when you’ve seen the light. :)

I know that’s a cheeky response, but I also believe it. I’ve seen vibe-coded projects get out of hand quickly. The internet is full of such examples. Using Pegasus doesn’t guarantee that you won’t eventually find yourself in vibe-code hell (believe me, I’ve seen it firsthand doing customer support), but it certainly reduces the chances of it. It helps a lot knowing the foundational bones of your application are strong.

There might one day be a time when AI is so good at coding that products like Pegasus are no longer necessary, but that day is not today. Today, a vetted foundation like Pegasus is one of the best ways to set yourself up for long-term success.

To date, more than 1,700 people have used Pegasus to start projects, and several of those have turned into life-changing businesses.

Here are some recent things people have said about Pegasus:

"We're well into the six figures of ARR and I 100% believe my product never would've gotten off the ground without SaaS Pegasus." — Logan Wright, founder, Hashio

"SaaS Pegasus has been a game-changer for me - it showed me that I could actually start working as a solo entrepreneur. This realization has profoundly influenced my life direction. Thank you so much!" — Hwang, Slack community member

"I'm usually pretty critical of SaaS boilerplates, but SaaS Pegasus is quite literally "CTO in a box" and has taught me a ton about modern Django just from buying it." — Dominic Monn, founder, Mentor Cruise

This is a tiny sample of of the 100+ positive comments and reviews I've received for Pegasus over the years.

I realize that Pegasus is pricey, even with the sale. But if you are serious about building a great Django application, there’s no better way to do it.

The sale ends tomorrow. You can pick up your 50% off license here.
